The blast cannon was a shotgun weapon issued to the Imperial engineers during the Galactic Civil War. The weapon functioned in a semi-automatic shotgun-like manner, and was extremely effective at close range in enclosed spaces. Imperial engineers were highly adept at using the weapon. They were awarded the flechette shotgun upgrade for outstanding combat action. A blast cannon could fire up to seven shots at once. Another type of blast cannon was the CR-1 model used by members of the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
