Bloat eel was a delicacy that needed to be prepared with great care. If not skinned while alive, the animal might impart its natural poison to its flesh. Because the bloat eel toxin was potentially fatal, functions that served the dish were staffed with medtechs ready and able to administer anti-toxins.
