Blue Hutt's tongue was a species of shrub[2] native to the planet Onderon. It consisted of bunches of long, thin blue leaves and was named for the similarity in appearance its leaves bore to the tongues of the Hutt species, despite Hutt tongues being pink.[2] The plant collected water in the conical fronds of its leaves, which formed protected pools that amphibians would then inhabit.[2] During the Onderonian Civil War[1] in the year 20 BBY,[4] it could be found growing in the forests surrounding the world's capital city Iziz as well as those close to the camp maintained by the resistance movement fighting in the war.[1] The shrub also grew in the mountain region where the insurgent fort known as the nest was built.[3]

Behind the scenesEdit

Blue Hutt's tongue first appeared in "A War on Two Fronts" the second episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television show's fifth season,[1] which aired on October 6, 2012.[5] The plant then went on to appear in the following three episodes of the show, but was not named in any of them,[6][7][3] first receiving identification in the reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, which was written by Adam Bray, Tricia Barr and Cole Horton[2] and released on April 4, 2017.[8]
