"I assure you, I was designed by one of the foremost minds in the Republic—Doctor Boab Deduun."
―M1-4X[src]

Boab Deduun was a male scientist who designed the prototype M1-4X Advanced War Droid for the Galactic Republic's Advanced Development Laboratories and the Republic Special Forces Division during the Cold War with the Sith Empire.

BiographyEdit

"Thanks to Doctor Deduun, I can understand the importance of our fight, and the extent of the threats we face. And I can fight harder for it."
―M1-4X[src]

A male scientist,[1] Boab Deduun was the protégé of Doctor Nasan Godera, the chief designer of the Galactic Republic's Advanced Development Laboratories.[2] An esteemed doctor in his own right by the time of the Cold War with the Sith Empire, Deduun designed the M1-4X Advanced War Droid[3] under the codename Project Ignition, but the project was scrapped on account of problems with the droid's power core. However, Lieutenant Harron Tavus of the Republic Special Forces Division approached Deduun and convinced him to restart the project using Tavus' own funds, claiming that its cancellation had been a front to keep the project secret.[2] Deduun finished the droid in his lab at a classified location, instilling a deep love of the Republic and a fierce hatred of the Empire in M1-4X before Tavus took the completed droid to use for his own ends.[2]

Behind the scenesEdit

Boab Deduun was first mentioned on the Holonet section of the official site for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a video game released by BioWare in 2011, in the entry for the Trooper companion M1-4X.[3] He receives mentions in both the in-game conversation "Built for the Job"[1] and the 2012 reference guide Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia, which gives Deduun's backstory.[2]
