The bola carbine first appeared in Star Wars Galaxies, a 2003 Massively Multiplayer Online Game video game produced by Sony Online Entertainment. In the game, it could be found randomly as loot on enemies that a player killed. The weapon later received a card in the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game, a virtual trading card game.
