The Bolotaur was a large, long-necked reptilian creature native to Kashyyyk.

They lived short lives, but reproduced at a high enough rate to survive in great numbers. The bolotaur's short lives were spent eating, which was necessary due to their very fast metabolisms.

Bolotaurs were sometimes tamed and used as mounts. During the Clone Wars, they served as mounts on Kashyyyk for Trandoshan slavers.
During the subjugation of Kashyyyk by the Galactic Empire, bolotaurs were used by scout troopers for navigating the dangerous terrain of the forested world. It was during the Galactic Civil War that these creatures faced extinction caused by poachers.
