"That's the Brassbound, I think. Probably chasing after General Grievous' secret weapon everyone's talking about."
"Hmmph."
―Clone troopers Rys and Jek[2]

The Brassbound was a Venator-class Star Destroyer that served in the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars. Around 21 BBY, the Brassbound was situated in the Republic's drydocks on the planet Coruscant when it and several other Star Destroyers were sent off to fight the growing Separatist threat in the Outer Rim. The Brassbound's departure from Coruscant was noted by a pair of clone shock troopers, Rys and Jek.

Description[]

Built by Kuat Drive Yards,[1] the Brassbound was a Venator-class Star Destroyer that was part of the Republic Navy during the Clone Wars between the Republic and Confederacy of Independent Systems.[2] At 1,137 meters long, the Brassbound had an armament of fifty-two laser cannons, eight DBY-827 heavy dual turbolaser turrets, two medium dual turbolaser cannons, four proton torpedos tubes, and six tractor beam projectors.[1]

History[]

Around 21 BBY,[3] the Brassbound was stationed at the Republic's drydocks on the capital planet of Coruscant when it was dispatched to the Outer Rim Territories with several other Star Destroyers to fight the Separatist Droid Army. The departure of the Brassbound from the drydocks was noticed by a pair of clone shock troopers nicknamed Rys and Jek, who were staying at the nearby Republic Service Organization center, awaiting their next mission.[2]

As the Brassbound lifted from the docks, Rys speculated that the Star Destroyer was being sent off to hunt for Separatist General Grievous and his new secret weapon[2]—the Subjugator-class heavy cruiser Malevolence[4]—which had recently begun ambushing Republic vessels across the galaxy.[5]

Behind the scenes[]

The Brassbound's only appearance in Star Wars canon was a small cameo in the webcomic The Clone Wars: Prelude, posted on StarWars.com on October 2, 2008. The Star Destroyer was briefly seen in the background of the comic's second-to-last page.
