Bryar rifle was a predecessor and rifle version of the Bryar pistol. The Bryar rifle had the same ability as the pistol: it could shoot a 'charge,' one large shot as opposed to the weaker and smaller (although faster) shots. Bryar rifles were popular during the waning days of the Galactic Republic. The Bryar rifle was very accurate and wasn't too heavy to hold. Morgan Katarn gave a Bryar rifle to his son, Kyle Katarn, as a parting gift on the eve of his induction to the Imperial Academy, but Morgan sawed it down (becoming Kyle's popular Bryar pistol) so that it wouldn't appear quite as old-fashioned.
