Budhila Hestilic Amura was a Hutt who rose to power in the aftermath of the end of the Hutt Cataclysms in 15,500 BBY, when the Hutt Empire collapsed in civil war.[1] A hermaphrodite like the rest of his species,[2] Amura possessed a masculine personality, and he developed the concept of kajidic: a philosophy that redefined Hutt culture by focusing the species on economic expansion and dominion instead of territorial conquest and infighting. Amura also established the Council of Elders to maintain the peace among the clans.[1] Some scholars believed that Amura was inspired by the strategies of the famous Kossak Inijic Ar'durv, who defeated the Human Xim the Despot and destroyed his empire ten thousand years earlier.[3] Amura was also responsible for leading the negotiations with the Evocii, the native species of the planet Evocar, and Amura manipulated the naive Evocii into legally surrendering their entire homeworld to the Hutts—who promptly renamed the planet Nal Hutta, or "Glorious Jewel" in Huttese.[2]
