A Cacodemon was a mythological creature that originated from stories told in the Core Worlds. Horrible creatures that lived in shadow else die in sunlight, they crawled out of the depths of the dark underworld to terrorize galactic citizens. The myths of these creatures had spread as far as the Mid Rim world Naboo. Jedi Master Restelly Quist described the Trial of Spirit, one of the five tests that made up the Trials of Knighthood, as capable of making a Padawan face their worst fears, which sometimes manifested itself as a cacodemon.
