During the Clone Wars, Duros bounty hunter Cad Bane was hired to free Hutt crime lord Ziro Desilijic Tiure from prison organized a posse of bounty hunters to accomplish his mission. The members included the piscine technician Robonino, Jedi hunter Aurra Sing, and Weequay mercenary Shahan Alama. As a test for his team, Bane set up a trap for bounty hunter Davtokk on the planet Keyorin, and the team was successful in fulfilling Bane's expectations.
Backed up by several Confederacy BX-series droid commandos and IG-86 sentinel droids, the team made their way to the galactic capital of Coruscant, where they took several influential Senators hostage, including Padmé Amidala of Naboo, Bail Organa of Alderaan, Riyo Chuchi of Pantora, and Onaconda Farr of Rodia. The team also trapped Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and Senator Orn Free Taa of Ryloth in the Chancellor's Executive Suite, demanding that Ziro the Hutt be released. What the team did not count on, however, was Anakin Skywalker's location: the renowned Jedi was in the Republic Executive Building itself. He was captured by Sing, Alama, and Robonino, however, and was placed with the other hostages. Eventually, Chancellor Palpatine sent Senator Taa to release Ziro from the Detention Center. Bane and his posse were successful in their mission, and escaped by threatening to kill the hostage Senators and Jedi.

[edit] History
[edit] Prelude to Formation
Shortly after the Battle of Christophsis, the Jedi High Council uncovered a Separatist plot to kidnap Jabba the Hutt's son, Rotta. They quickly dispatched two of their most accomplished Jedi Knights, the famous negotiator Obi-Wan Kenobi and renowned warrior and pilot Anakin Skywalker. The duo were accompanied by Skywalker's new Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, and their clone leaders, Captain Rex and Commander Cody. After Kenobi finished negotiations with Jabba the Hutt, the team made their way to Teth, where a battle erupted. Kenobi sparred with Asajj Ventress while Skywalker and Tano recovered Rotta, whom they found in a B'omarr monastery. The team then traveled to Tatooine where they returned Rotta to his father.
Meanwhile, on Coruscant, Senator Padmé Amidala uncovered Count Dooku and Ziro the Hutt's scheme. She journeyed to Ziro the Hutt's pleasure palace, where Ziro rejected her presence. When Amidala bested Ziro's sentinel droid in order to eavesdrop on Ziro, she discovered the Hutt speaking via hologram to Count Dooku concerning their plot to kidnap Rotta the Hutt. Ziro and Dooku quickly found her, though, imprisoning her. Amidala was to be sold to Nute Gunray, who had a particular want to see Amidala dead. Through trickery, the Senator contacted her protocol droid, C-3PO, who subsequently journeyed to Ziro's palace with Commander Fox and a squad of clone troopers. Ziro was arrested, his operation shut down, and a peace treaty between the Republic and Jabba the Hutt was formed.[3]
[edit] Recruitment
Shortly after the Battle of Ryloth, Cad Bane, the most renowned bounty hunter in the galaxy after the death of Jango Fett, was hired by Count Dooku to spring Ziro the Hutt from the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center on Coruscant. Dooku could not free the Hutt himself because of his profile and Coruscant's population of Jedi ready to respond to an incident.[4] Bane took the assignment and began assembling a team. After he had found a group of tentative hopefuls (Shahan Alama, Robonino and Aurra Sing) he set a trap for fellow hunter Davtokk on Keyorin. Bane intended to use this circumstance as an initiation test for his team: if they could successfully dispatch Davtokk, they were in. Davtokk was no match for his associates; Sing shot him in the leg while Alama and Robonino delayed him. Eventually, Bane revealed himself, killing Davtokk.[1]
[edit] Raid on the Galactic Senate
[edit] Entering the Executive Building

Bane and his posse travelled via air taxi to the Republic Executive Building, where they were met by Senate Commandos. After a short exchange, Bane openly engaged with the Commandos, while Aurra Sing used her sniper rifle to snipe the blue-clad guards from a nearby tower. After all of the guards were dispatched, Shahan Alama, Robonino, Sing, two BX-series droid commando units and three IG-86 sentinel droids revealed themselves. The commandos donned the guard's uniforms to avoid suspicion, while the rest of the posse made their way to the power control room inside the complex.[2]
[edit] Taking the Power Control Room
The remaining team members then made their way to the power control room, where they dispatched another Senate Commando, an assistant droid, a protocol droid, a WED-15 Treadwell and an R5 unit stationed in the control room. There Robonino took his place at the computer, where he would relieve the building of any and all communication or security systems. Bane had little faith in Robonino's ability, however; he reminded the alien that failure was not an option. The team then moved on, without Robonino, to kill a squadron of Senate Commandos using a tossed thermal detonator. One Commando survived, but was promptly shot by Aurra Sing.[2]
[edit] Skywalker and the Hostage Senators
Cad Bane, Shahan Alama, Aurra Sing, and the two IG-86 sentinels then proceeded to the East Wing of the building, where several influential Senators are discussing the Enhanced Privacy Invasion Bill, a bill to be brought up in Senate. The Senators include Padmé Amidala, Bail Organa, Riyo Chuchi, Onaconda Farr, Philo, Dantum Roohd, Zinn Paulness, Jakker-Sun, the the Senator from Christophsis, and a female Senator in a purple gown. bane and the posse surrounded them, briefing them upon their situation and notifying them that cooperation was mandatory. Senator Philo, however, refused to heed Bane's warning and attempted to leave the room. The Gran Senator was shot on the spot by Bane. The Duros then calmly asked them to hand over any communication devices on their personnel.[2]
Senator Orn Free Taa of Ryloth then rushed to the Chancellor's Executive Suite to update Supreme Chancellor Palpatine on the events occurring. The duo were contacted via hologram by Bane, who told him of the hostage Senators, and of his demands to see Ziro the Hutt released. At first, the Chancellor was outraged, notifying Bane that his actions will be met with force, until Robonino finally succeeded in removing the power, thus locking Taa and Palpatine inside the Executive Suite.[2]
Bane, Alama, and Sing continued their communication sweep, eventually arriving at Padmé Amidala, whom secretly was holding Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker's lightsaber. At that moment, Skywalker himself was secretly spying on the posse and the Senators, though Amidala could see him. Following her path of vision, Bane also saw Skywalker, ordering Shahan Alama and one of the IG-86 units to apprehend the Jedi. Skywalker and his pursuers run down a corridor, Alama and the droid firing their blasters at him. Skywalker then ducked into an unoccupied chamber, where he successfully contacted Palpatine and Orn Free Taa in the Executive Suite. Palpatine then directed the young Jedi to the power control room, where he would be able to re-enable power and communications. Alama and the droid entered the room, however, and Skywalker was forced to hide and use a Jedi mind trick on Alama. Skywalker ordered Alama and the droid to split up and search the next two floors, meeting on the other side. Both obeyed, Alama searching the upper level while the sentinel droid searched the lower level. Skywalker proceeded to meet the sentinel droid, struggling to dispatch the droid without his lightsaber. Eventually, using the droid's discarded blaster, Skywalker dispatched the sentinel droid before fleeing to the power control room. Alama then found the droid, noticing the lack of lightsaber cuts, which he reported to Bane. Bane then ordered the Weequay and Aurra Sing to continue to search for the Jedi.[2]
Proceeding to the power control room, Skywalker discovered a victorious Robonino, who had just completed his assignment in the control room. Upon seeing the Jedi, he quickly returned to the interior of the control room, locking himself inside. Skywalker was then discovered by Shahan Alama, who held the Jedi at blaster-point. Using the Force, he pulled the blaster out of Alama's hand, only to find himself looking down the barrel of Aurra Sing's sniper rifle. Using an electric prod, Robonino then jumped out of the power control room, zapping Skywalker into a state of unconsciousness. The trio then "tied up" Skywalker, delivering him to Bane.[2]
[edit] Rescuing Ziro
- "We are to rendezvous back at the Senate building."
"What? No, no, no, no; the Outer Rim, not the Senate you stupid machine!" - ―HELIOS-3D and Ziro the Hutt —

Cad Bane then ordered Senator Orn Free Taa to travel to the Republic Judiciary Central Detention Center with a pardon chip to release Ziro the Hutt. Taa obeyed; HELIOS-3D, an IG-86 unit referred to as "3D," journeyed to the Executive Suite to escort the Senator to the Detention Center. The duo traveled in an air taxi; Taa was held at blaster-point by 3D the entire journey. They were met at the Detention Center by clone troopers, who released the Hutt. Ziro demanded to be taken to the Outer Rim immediately, though 3D refused him passage to the Outer Rim, insisting on a rendezvous with the rest of the posse at the Senate building.[2]
Meanwhile, with their hostages, Cad Bane and the remaining bounty hunters left their hostages a deadly "parting gift": a series of high-intensity lasers surrounding the Senators, which would trigger a bomb if activated. Anakin Skywalker finally gained consciousness during this period. Bane, Sing, Alama, and Robonino then left to rendezvous with 3D and Ziro the Hutt, who were waiting for them in an air taxi, only to be greeted by commander Fox and a squad of clone troopers. Luckily for the posse, Bane could also remotely activate the bomb, gaining a leverage over Palpatine and the clones in addition to free passage. Bane and his posse then flew off in the air taxi while Bane discussed payment and prison with Ziro the Hutt. To please the Hutt, Bane remotely activated the bomb, though Anakin Skywalker managed to cut through the lobby floor using his lightsaber, thus creating a pit and saving the Senator's lives.[2]
