Cadet was a title used to refer to youthful individuals enrolled in a training or educational program. Prior to and during the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Republic trained clone cadets on Kamino, who would one day become clone troopers. The New Mandalorians created the Royal Academy of Government, where young Mandalorian cadets were sent and instructed how to become great leaders. After the fall of the Galactic Republic, the newly-formed Galactic Empire set up the Imperial Academy to train Imperial cadets to serve in the Imperial Military.
