Calarantrum, also known as calarantrum root,^[1] was a thick orange or blue root that was used to add a touch of piquancy to bantha rump broth. Chef Gormaanda provided instructional holovids including tips on how to properly use this food additive for various meals. Gormaanda also used calarantrum seeds for her Glowblue Noodles and Chav dish.

Calarantrum was also used as an ingredient in the recipe for the gartro egg omelet, a dish that could be purchased from the Coruscant dining establishment Dex's Diner during the waning years of the Galactic Republic.^[1]

Shortly after the Battle of Yavin, the Wookiee Mallatobuck used liberal helpings of calarantrum root when preparing a special Life Day "bantha surprise" dinner for her husband, Chewbacca.^[2]
