Cantina Communications is a short story written by John Chesterman, originally published in Star Wars Official Poster Monthly 16, The Star Wars Compendium 2: The World of Star Wars, and later archived on Hyperspace.
Plot summary[]
As Obi-Wan Kenobi searches through the crowd at the Mos Eisley cantina, Luke Skywalker reflects on the various forms of communication used by the different alien species in the room. He recalls his and Obi-Wan's earlier discussion of which species makes the best pilots.
Behind the scenes[]
This article marks the first and only appearance of several alien species, such as the sentient ocean of Solanus, the giant algae beds of the Cygnus B system, Klytonians, a particular species of olfaxes, and an unidentified species of emotionless multiple-eyed insectoids described as the best pilots in the galaxy. More mundanely, it also mentions dogs.
