Carapods were large red, green, and black insects that lived on Zonama Sekot and helped with the shipbuilding process. Some were cyborgs. Carapods had flat, wide bodies with seven legs: three on each side, and one in the center-front. On either side of the seventh leg grew long gray spurs. Their thick hides contained a high metal content.

Carapods were used as pack animals by Langhesi forgers to carry Seed-partners to the forging pits on Zonama Sekot during the shaping of them into ships.
