The cargo shuttle was utilized by the Galactic Empire around 10 ABY.

This type of shuttle was boxy and blocky and fitted with an internal loading arm that could carry heavy cargo, including X-1 Viper war droids.

They were used to unload a shipment of X-1s to a military terminal on Byss during Operation Shadow Hand. Unbeknownst to the Empire, Balmorra had allowed the New Republic to know of the shipment, which led to Republic soldiers being smuggled inside the droids and given full control over them. This led to the Battle of the Emperor's Citadel.
