An IdeaEdit

I have an idea for sector pages. What if we could make a box that shows the sector and all the sectors around it? I'll try to replicate something here, although this probably shouldn't be how it will be done. Plus we have to take into account that not everything will be known so we need to be able to leave open spaces for when we do find out, or need to change something.

                 Vivenda Sector Seswenna Sector
                             | |
  Senex Sector---------Mayagil Sector
                               |
                       Sluis Sector

Well I tryed my best, but I think you'll get what I'm trying to do, and maybe we can use an infobox to do it better. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:59, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • Here's an example of an infobox. -- Riffsyphon1024 08:08, 10 Jun 2005 (UTC)

  • The problem is, sectors aren't don't form a nice grid, and we almost never know all (or even any) of what sectors surround a given sector. Though a good idea, I don't think it would work very well in practice. jSarek 07:05, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)
    • Yea, it seems pretty impossible right now, but maybe one day when we have a better idea of what the galaxy looks like, it might be possible. -- Riffsyphon1024 07:19, 11 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Systems within Sector ArticlesEdit

All sectors that have known systems should have those systems in a list in its article. Right now many sector articles have just the planets, and this breaks the scheme of Regions--> Sectors --> Systems --> Planets. However the most notable planets can stay on the sector pages for easier finding of planets. -- Riffsyphon1024 18:12, 12 Aug 2005 (UTC)

      • The reason in the sector article I wrote that I stayed with planets, rather than systems, is that the names of so many planets' systems are unknown, and I wantedto be as inclusive as possible. However, the current format is not set in stone. In the future, I could do more estensive write ups on the sectors, with lists as follows:

SECTOR I. Sub-division

A. System
 a. Planet
  s1. Moon

An example: TAPANI SECTOR I. The Freeworlds Region

A. Fondor system
 a. Fondor
  s1. Nallastia

Which is essentially how I did the gazzetteer at my website.

Or, we could do a list of known star systems, with an appended list of additional planets, system unknown, as follows

CORELLIAN SECTOR

 Systems

Corellian system Nubus system etc.

  Other Planets (system unknown)

Altawar Aurea etc.

Whadya think?

  • Not a bad idea, but I just thought we should give as many known systems in the sector articles as possible, even if they're not created yet, which would then serve as a checklist of those that need creation. -- Riffsyphon1024 23:46, 13 Aug 2005 (UTC)
    • But if systems have no canon name, what we do? As follows?:

-- CORELLIAN SECTOR Corellian system Nubus System unnamed system containing Aurea unnamed system containing Altawar -- that looks awkward; maybe this

Corellian system Nubus system Aurea system Altawar system

In which, if system names are confirmed, the link takes you to the system article; if names are speculative, the link just goes to the planet article upon which the guessed system name is based. - JustinGann

  • Well the Corellian Sector article already has a good example of this. -- Riffsyphon1024 01:59, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
      • Ok, Rif, at some point I'll try to redo all the sector articles that way, it probably would be best:) Of course, few sectors have been as developed by the EU as Corellian: Farlax, Moddell, Centrality, Greater Javin, the Periphery, Kathol, Elrood, Minos Cluster, Ringali Shell are the only ones I can think of off my head. I mean, outside of the Alderaan system, what do we know about Alderaan Sector itself? Diddly. I always guessed the other planets were ALderaanian colonies, but that is nothing more than a guess. Or Coruscant Sector, outside of Coruscant system (and in CCW, Metellos system)? Same story. What do we know of Kuat Sector beyond Kuat? Little more than a list of names. So not every sector will need a nice list like that.
  • Well there are eight other systems in Kuat Sector, we just don't know squat about them. Yea I understand what you mean, but at least if we know something we can put it down in the hope that someone writes about it in the future. :) -- Riffsyphon1024 20:52, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
    • Correction, make that 10 systems. -- Riffsyphon1024 20:53, 14 Aug 2005 (UTC)
