A cavern spider was a giant, aggressive arachnid from the planet Dathomir. Most members of the Spiderclan emulated those quiet, efficient and deadly predators.

The spiders lived in caves like the Nightspider Cult cave and the Rancor Cave on Dathomir. A few cavern spiders were also brought to the Geonosian Bio-Lab on Yavin 4.
