Century flowers were a rare vegetal species from a planet on the far side of the galaxy from Thustra. Specimens were nurtured by King Alaric in his garden on Thustra for a century. Those flowers were sensitive and delicate, and he carefully protected them from weeds. Alaric used his gardening as a metaphor to explain to Yoda why he believed Thustra should secede from the Republic during the Clone Wars.
Behind the scenesEdit
The centennial flower of King Alaric appeared in the 2004 comic Jedi: Yoda, the fifth and final issue in the Star Wars: Jedi series of comics, written by Jeremy Barlow and illustrated by HOON. In HOON's former gallery of concept art, that flower was referred to as a "Sephiorchid," hinting that it may be a kind of orchid
