Century flowers were a rare species from a planet on the far side of the galaxy from Thustra. Specimens were nurtured by King Alaric in his garden on Thustra for a century. The flowers were sensitive and delicate, and he carefully protected them from weeds. Alaric used his gardening as a metaphor to explain to Yoda why he believed Thustra should secede from the Republic during the Clone Wars.
