- "To the Chamber of Judgment, summon Skywalker and his Padawan."
The Chamber of Judgment was a room in the Jedi Temple where the Jedi High Council passed judgment on Jedi accused of wrongdoing. Padawan Ahsoka Tano was bought to this room after she was framed for bombing of the Jedi Temple hangar, where she was expelled from the Order after Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin demanded she be tried at a military tribunal.
- "Padawan Tano, serious charges have been levied against you. How plead you?"
"Not guilty, Master! I would never take the lives of innocents. The values of the Jedi are sacred to me."
"There is evidence to the contrary. You were alone with Letta Turmond when she died. Can you explain this?"
"Someone used the Force against her."
"Which brings us to Ventress. Can you explain your association with her?"
"We...had a mutual understanding. I thought she was helping me."
"Did she help you acquire the nano-droid weapondry found when you were apprehended, the same devices used in the bombing of the Temple?"
"No! I was set up, and deceived, as you are being deceived now!"
"The question is, Padawan Tano, who is deceiving us? Ventress, you, or someone else?"
"I am not deceiving you! I would assume Ventress is...but I can't be sure, my sense is...clouded."
"Clouded by the dark side these things are Padawan Tano. Dangerously clouded. But now just surrounding you. Surrounding many things, in these times."
"You've already made your decision haven't you? This meeting is just a formality!"
"(sigh)Reached a decision, we have, though not in total agreement are we."
"It is the Council's opinion that Padawan Ahsoka Tano has committed sedition against the Republic, and thus she will be expelled from the Jedi Order."
"You can't do this!"
"Your Padawan status will be stripped from you, and you shall forfeit all rank and privileges within the Grand Army of the Republic. You will be turned over to the Republic court to await your trial, and whatever punishment they will set for you. Henceforth, you are barred from the Jedi Order."
- ―The Jedi High Council expels Ahsoka Tano, to Skywalker's outrage.
After Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano was arrested on the charge of masterminding the bombing of the Jedi Temple hanger, eliminating a co-conspirator, and murdering several clone troopers, the Jedi High Council prepared give to her a traditional Jedi trial, which Master Yoda stated would be fair. However, Admiral Wilhuff Tarkin and the Galactic Senate believed that an internal Jedi would appear biased, and therefore requested that Tano be expelled from the Jedi Order and turned over to them for a military tribunal. The Council was divided over whether or not to follow these demands, but ultimately concluded that there was sufficient evidence to convict Tano. Master Mace Windu added that protecting Tano could be regarded as an act of opposition to the Senate, and therefore felt that the Council had little choice. Master Yoda then stated that Skywalker and Tano were to be summoned to the Chamber of Judgement for a hearing, and the Council would allow the Force to guide them in their decision.
Jedi Masters Yoda, Windu, Ki-Adi-Mundi, Plo Koon, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Shaak Ti were present during the hearing in the Chamber, with Tano standing alone on a platform with the Masters above her. Anakin Skywalker watched below. Yoda began the trial, relaying the charges against Tano and asking for her plea. Tano pleaded innocent, insisting that she would never take innocent lives and that the values of the Jedi were sacred to her.
Unconvinced, Mundi replied that there was evidence to the country, pointing out that Tano was alone with Letta Tyrmond when she died and asked for an explanation. Tano replied that someone had used the Force against Turmond.
Plo Koon then brought up the subject of Tano's association with Asajj Ventress while on the run, asking if she could explain it. Tano claimed that she and Ventress had had a "mutual understanding" and that she thought the former Separatist was helping her. Mace Windu then sharply asked Tano if Ventress had helped her acquire the nano-droid weaponry she had been found with when apprehended, the same devices which were used to blow up the Temple hanger. Tano denied this, stating that she had been deceived and that the Council was also being deceived. Windu retorted by stating that the question was who was deceiving the Council, asking if it was Ventress, Tano or someone else. Tano again insisted that she was innocent, and stated that she would assume Ventress was the one behind the deception, but she couldn't be sure because her sense was clouded.
Yoda then stated to Tano that such things were dangerously clouded by the Dark side, but asserted that it was not just surrounding Tano, but many things. Below, Skywalker suddenly became angry, shouting that the Council had already made their decision and that the meeting was nothing more than a formality. Yoda then solemnly stated that the Council had reached a decision, though they were not in total agreement. Windu then firmly stated that it was the Council's opinion that Tano had committed sedition against the Republic, and thus, she would be expelled from the Jedi Order. Enraged by this, Skywalker furiously protested, but was held back by two Temple Guards. Mundi then informed Tano that her Padawan status and military ranks and privileges would be stripped from her, that she would be turned over to the Republic court for trial, and was henceforth barred from the Jedi Order. As he spoke, Tano's platform slowly lowered and one of the Temple Guards ripped off her Padawan braid, a symbolization of the removal of her Jedi status.
