The Champion, also called Champ, was a Bothan Assault Cruiser that served as the flagship of the New Republic fleet during the Battle of Kalarba in 26 ABY. It was commanded by the Twi'lek Brevet Admiral Glie'oleg Kru.^[1]

The Champion was destroyed by the Yuuzhan Vong during the battle, despite the best efforts of the New Republic's starfighters, including Rogue Squadron pilot Jaina Solo. The resulting explosion destroyed several starfighters including Jaina's X-wing though she managed to eject herself into space and was eventually retrieved. Unfortunately for her, she suffered injuries that temporarily blinded her. Jaina then received a medical leave transfer to Duro.
