Charis was a planet in the system of the same name on the Trition Trade Route in the Kathol sector of the Outer Rim Territories. An important industrial base for the sector, the population of the planet staged an uprising against the local Imperial governor—Moff Kentor Sarne—and his forces in 4 ABY. Sarne's forces assaulted the world, laying waste to many of the major cities and reducing the planetary population from one billion to 850 million. Following the disintegration of Imperial authority in the sector with the New Republic's liberation of the sector capital Kal'Shebbol in 8 ABY, the population of Charis prepared to stage a second uprising to free their world.

Description
Edit
Charis was a planet located in the Charis system on the Trition Trade Route in the Kathol sector, between the worlds of Kolatill and Gandle Ott. It was at the center of five travel routes that also joined the world to the Aaris system, and the planets Corjain and Mairne. Charis was considered to be an important planet in the Kathol sector, with industries that focused on manufacturing and information technologies. The Imperial sector Moff, Kentor Sarne, kept a large fleet formation, known as the Charis Fleet, in the system under the command of Admiral Pertaal Logris.[2]
History
Edit
An important planet in the Kathol sector, Charis fell under Imperial rule when the Empire took control of the Kathol sector. By 4 ABY, the planet had around one billion inhabitants, until the population staged a violent uprising against Sarne's authority. Sarne's retaliation was brutal; Imperial forces—including the CR90 corvette Renegade—assaulted the planet, reducing many cities to smoking wasteland, and killing around 150 million beings.[2]
Following the liberation of Kal'Shebbol by New Republic forces in 8 ABY,[4] insurgents and sympathizers on Charis plotted to stage a second uprising. However, due to the Imperial counterattack they suffered four years previously, they required support and encouragement from the New Republic in order to enact their plan.[2]
Locations
Edit
Charis was home to several cities. However, following the harsh subjugation of the planet in 4 ABY, many of the planet's major cities were reduced to bombed-out ruins.[2]
Behind the scenes
Edit
Charis was described in The DarkStryder Campaign, a 1995 supplement for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game by West End Games. Charis was later mentioned in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia—in the entry for the Kathol sector—and The Essential Atlas.
