Chawix

The chawix were small plants native to the planet Ansion. They had many thorns, which in proximity to flesh, extended and filled with poison. The chawix would insert these into its prey and inject the poison, killing the individual in minutes. They then feed like a spider, secreting a chemical that slowly liquefied the prey, sucking it up through their barbs afterward. They occupied the gourds in the mountains and used the winds to travel.
