These galline fowl lived in the forests of Endor. Ewoks kept these birds for eggs and their meat. They were mentioned in the Galactic Phrase Book and Travel Guide as a part of a phrase to say to the natives. The Ewokese name for the species was "tip-yip."
The Imperial AT-ST walker was nicknamed "chicken walker" after the creature.
