Chief Justice
The Chief Justice was the senior of the twelve justices in the Supreme Court of the Old Republic. As such, the Chief Justice was the head of both the Supreme Court and the Republic's judicial branch of government.
The Chief Justice was presumably nominated by the Supreme Chancellor and confirmed by the Galactic Senate. An unknown male was the Chief Justice in 32 BBY who oversaw Finis Valorum's corruption trial just prior to the Invasion of Naboo.
The Chief Justice was replaced by the First Justice of the New Republic Court of Justice.
In 43.5 ABY Uved Pledesin served as Chief Justice on the Galactic Alliance Court of Justice.
