Chirq Council Mechanized Guardian

A Chirq Council Mechanized Guardian.

"The Chirq Council is experimenting with a new kind of mechanized guardian."
Agent Klakk, to a spacer[1]

The Chirq Council Mechanized Guardian was a type of battle droid that was used by the Chirq Council during the Galactic Civil War.

History[]

"My assignment is to hamper the production of those mechanized guardians. I figure the best way to do that is to destroy the ones they already have. Your part would be to enter the Chirq Council bunker and destroy any mechanized guardians you find."
―Agent Klakk, to a spacer[1]

The Chirq Council Mechanized Guardians were developed and produced in the Second Elite Council Bunker, near Doaba Guerfel, after the Battle of Yavin.[1]

In 1 ABY,[2] the Corellian Security Force started an investigation against the Chirq Council following the increase of ryll traffic on Corellia.[3] Captain Vitala Baize infiltrated a CorSec agent in the Chirq Council and discovered the locations of their secret headquarters.[4] During the subsequent CorSec assault on the Second Elite Council Bunker,[5] Agent Hurley Klakk was tasked to hamper the production of the Chirq Council Mechanized Guardians. Klakk thought that the best way to achieve the objective was to destroy the droids already built. He thus hired an independent spacer who previously worked for the CorSec to help him in his mission. The spacer entered the Second Elite Council Bunker, fought the Mechanized Guardians and successfully destroyed them.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The Chirq Council Mechanized Guardians appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[6] The Chirq Council Mechanized Guardians were added to the game with the update named "Chapter 1: The Corellian Captives," published on June 8, 2006.[7] They shared the same model with the CY-M Prototypes[8] and the ZH-28 guards.[9]

  2. According to its opening crawl, Star Wars Galaxies was set sometime after Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The only precise time indication in the game was given by the character Ruwan Tokai, who referenced the destruction of the Death Star at the Battle of Yavin as occurring one year earlier, placing the game sometime around 1 ABY. Later, multiple elements confirmed the placement of the game storyline in 1 ABY. First, The Essential Reader's Companion established that the tie-in novel Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine took place in 1 ABY. Furthermore, the game expansion Star Wars Galaxies: Rage of the Wookiees was set during the Blockade of Kashyyyk, one year after the Battle of Yavin according to The Star Wars Holiday Special. Additionally, the main scenario of The Nightsister's Revenge from the Star Wars Galaxies Trading Card Game was set over a year before the Battle of Hoth (3 ABY), so around 1.5 ABY. Finally, the reference book Strongholds of Resistance placed the events of Star Wars Galaxies's Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" one year after the Battle of Yavin. Of note, Galaxies's Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" introduced the Battle of Hoth in the game. However, the developers were quite clear that this was only intended to be a completely isolated "Star Wars Moment" without any effect on continuity for the rest of the game.
