"What if we fail?"
"Asking the question means that you have already accepted that possibility. Remember, there is no try, only do, for a Jedi. In trying there is success, regardless of the outcome."
―Chitter and Luke Skywalker[1]

Chitter was a large, blue-skinned, birdlike being with beady black eyes who trained in the Junior Jedi Academy,[1] a class of the youngest students at the Jedi Praxeum on Yavin 4.[2] Chitter was in the same class at the Praxeum as fellow Jedi trainees Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila.[1]

In 22 ABY,[3] within the the academy's Grand Audience Chamber, Jedi Master Luke Skywalker began a lesson on how to use the Force to recapture lost memories. Rather than telling the young students how to perform the technique, Skywalker only told the students to believe and they would succeed. Concerned by this, Chitter asked the Jedi Master what would happen if they failed, to which Skywalker replied that there was no try for a Jedi, only do. The students were then instructed to pair up to practice the exercise.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Chitter appeared in Lyric's World, the second book in the Star Wars: Junior Jedi Knights series, written by Nancy Richardson and released in 1996.[1]
