Clantaani were dog-faced humanoids from the desert world of Clantaano III.
The Clantaani lived in a number of marauding nomadic tribes that fought endlessly for what limited resources could be found. Because Clantaano III, the Clantaani homeworld, is a desert planet, the Clantaani preferred to live on such planets such as Tatooine. Another draw for the Clantaani to Tatooine was the disproportionate amount of criminals to its rather sparse population, allowing these traveling bandits to steal regularly from crimelords such as the Hutts and return home with what they had stolen. Because their tribes constantly fought, the Clantaani were skilled warriors and were often hired as mercenaries for whatever jobs someone needed done.
