Class-E thermal detonator
From Wookieepedia, the Star Wars wiki.
The Class-E thermal detonator was a thermal detonator produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc.
Class-E thermal detonators were a much less powerful version of Merr-Sonn's Class-A model, which combined components of a basic frag grenade (small blast radius, standard explosion) with a very small dose of the substance baradium, found in Class-A detonators. Class-E detonators were commonly used by infantry units as weapons against large, huddled groups of enemies. Due to the fact that frag grenade components were used, other chemicals in the shell would explode as well even after the baradium was charged and detonated, creating a blast field much like that of a standard charge. This negated the possibility that an enemy could simply stay out of the blast radius, a weakness often exploited in the Class-A series. However, the Class-E had a much less powerful a explosion than the Class-A, due to the fact that less baradium was used.
