Clone paratroopers were specialized clone troopers who were trained to drop from up high (usually from LAAT/i gunships) into combat situations, often using jetpacks to do so. They were in action at the Battle of Utapau, during the Outer Rim Sieges near the end of the Clone Wars.

At some point near the end of the Clone Wars, clone paratroopers under the command of Clone Commander Cody, fought during the Battle of Utapau in an attempt to locate and destroy Separatist General Grievous. These paratroopers were a part of the 212th Attack Battalion, a clone battalion distinguishable by the orange markings on their armour. As Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi engaged Grievous in a duel, paratroopers were deployed from LAAT/i gunships and attacked the battle droids led by Grievous. The paratroopers fought ferociously, even using their fists in close combat against the various droids that attacked them. After Grievous was defeated at the hands of Kenobi, commander Cody received Order 66 from the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, Sheev Palpatine. Cody ordered an AT-TE to fire at the Jedi Master, knocking him into the water below. A clone paratrooper then reported to Cody that it was unlikely that Kenobi had survived the fall, before being ordered to start loading the clone troopers onto a starship.[3]

Clone paratroopers wore a modified version of the Phase II clone trooper armor, that featured a kama and beehive helmet.[4] They also often sported jetpacks in order to ensure a quick, but safe, descent onto battlefields below.[3]
