History
Edit
They were used by military commanders to identify sources of communications and triangulate enemy units with the intercepted communications signals.[1]
The Rebel Alliance used a MicroThrust Processors OrC-19 Com-Scan integrator console at both the Battle of Yavin and the Battle of Hoth.[2] The system was also fitted on many capital ships, such as the Imperial-class and other Star Destroyers, where they could be found inside the conning tower's sensor globes[3] and Mon Calamari Star Cruisers.
The Executor used such systems upon entering the Hoth system to verify the location of Echo Base. Toryn Farr used an instrument to interface with the com-scan's display map during the Battle of Hoth.[4]
