The story begins with Admiral Thrawn, Commander Parck, and Captain Niriz in the Unknown Regions aboard the Imperial I-class Star Destroyer Admonitor. While posing as a colony ship, they encounter an alien convoy of the Ebruchi, led by an enigmatic alien named Creysis.
