Communications Officer was a title held by beings who operated and controlled communications, often aboard starships. Members of the Trade Federation also held this title, and it was also another name for the Vice-Chair of Communications in the InterGalactic Banking Clan.

During the Invasion of Naboo, Tey How served as Communications Officer aboard Viceroy Nute Gunray's flagship, Saak'ak.

During the Battle of Hoth, Toryn Farr was the Chief Communications Officer, also called the Chief controller, of Echo Base, serving in the Rebel command center.
