"Calhava bru'chun dralshye'ran!"
―The bomber's words as he committed suicide — (audio) Listen (file info)[1]

Concordian was a dialect of Mando'a spoken by individuals from Concordia, a moon of the planet Mandalore.

The dialect was spoken by a member of Death Watch after he bombed the Memorial Shrine in Sundari, and again as he lay dying following a suicidal jump after Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi attempted to apprehend him for the terrorist act.[1]

Examples[]

  • Calhava bru'chun dralshye'ran! [1]
  • Se solu, se kad, se darasuum kote.[1]
  • Kadi, se norm'iim.[1]
  • Ki, kadi norm'iim.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

The dialect spoken by the people of Concordia first appeared in Star Wars canon in 2010, when it was featured in the twelfth episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' second season, entitled "The Mandalore Plot."[1]

The Concordian dialect was first established years prior in the Star Wars Insider article Guide to the Grand Army of the Republic, co-written by Karen Traviss and Ryan Kaufman[2]―a source now considered part of the Star Wars Legends continuity.[3]

At least one Concordian phrase from "The Mandalore Plot"—specifically the line exclaimed by the Death Watch bomber before leaping to his death, and featured as this article's main quote—appears to have been drawn from a 2007 post on the Empire at War forum, in which a user had compiled a list of fanon words and translations for the fledgling Mandalorian language.

The aforementioned quote, "Calhava bru'chun dralshye'ran," was translated in the post as "Compassionate leaders will burn."[4]

Although the translation would seem contextually appropriate to the episode's storyline, to date there has been no official confirmation that this is the canonically accepted translation.
