A coolth backpack was a personal device that incorporated coolth chemicals into a portable backpack for use on worlds with hot climates, such as Tatooine.

The coolth backpack was fitted with a cooling unit, through which was pumped cold coolth to maintain the wearer's temperature. These packs also featured a sunshield fabric which could be unrolled from the unit's lower section. This backpack was a more lightweight alternative to the coolth suit worn in Mos Espa among other areas.
