History
Edit
The Coruscant Security Force's Traffic Control was charged with monitoring the skylane traffic within the planet Coruscant and was kept separate from Coruscant Space Traffic Coordination and its successor Coruscant Space Traffic Control which handled space traffic inbound and outbound from the planet. Coruscant Traffic Control maintained information on all speeders and their level of permissions on various skylane routes. It also retained hangar and maintenance information.[3] Patrol units enforced speed limits and other traffic laws.[1]
A notable member of the organization during the Galactic Republic, was CSF Lieutenant Ia.[1]
In 6 ABY, data on Coruscant maintained by Traffic Control was used by the New Republic when they captured Coruscant.[3]
The capture of Coruscant by the Yuuzhan Vong resulted in the destruction of most of Coruscant's infrastructure. Skylanes fell apart and Traffic Control was unable to maintain order as millions attempted to flee the planet. Along with the CSF, Coruscant Traffic Control ceased to exist as an active organization by de facto.[2]
During the Galactic Alliance the CSF continued to operate traffic division patrol units. However, except for in cases of a major police operation, monitoring of the skylanes as well as other major responsibilities in traffic maintenance became the jurisdiction of the separate Galactic City Air Traffic Control.[4]
