Coruscanti Pilot Institute

The Coruscanti Pilot Institute, abbreviated as CPI, was an academy located on the planet Coruscant, specializing in the training of space pilots.
CPI was a three-year course that preceded a one-year enrollment in the Imperial Academy system. At least the top cadets in each year went on to the specialized TIE pilot training course on Carida, and the Institute was prestigious enough to attract recruits from as far away as the Outer Rim.
In the early stages of the Galactic Civil War, the commandant of the CPI was Mogurk. Shira Brie and Myrette Davani studied there from 3.5 BBY until 0.5 ABY, finishing first and second in their class respectively.

In Carida: Heavy Duty, the institute's name is spelled "Coruscani." However, this is most likely a mistake, as it is located on Coruscant, and the word Coruscanti refers to things related to the planet.
In the Completely Unofficial Star Wars Encyclopedia, CPI is identified as a branch of the Imperial Academy itself. The evidence indicates, however, that CPI preceded the normal one-year Academy enrollment. It appears, therefore, to have been a specialized high school acting as a feeder for the Academy system, rather than a Sector Naval Academy itself.
