"We are lords. Crime lords."
―Maul[14]

A crime lord,[15] also known as a crime lady,[16] crime kingpin,[17] or crime boss,[18] was someone who ruled over a criminal organization.[19]

The Sith Lords Maul and Savage Opress became crime lords in their plot to gather multiple criminal syndicates as a base of power for their planned conquest during the Clone Wars.[20] Maul continued to command Crimson Dawn into the time of the Galactic Empire.[21]

Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo—heroes of the Rebellion[22]—had to escape greedy crime lords such as Jabba the Hutt in their adventures.[19] The desert world of Tatooine,[19] the swampy world of Nal Hutta, and the jungle world of Teth were amongst the many worlds ruled by Hutt Clan crime lords such as Jabba.[8]

During the reign of the Empire, Cikatro Vizago was a Devaronian crime lord who ran the Broken Horn Syndicate,[2] whilst the Quarren Lallani was a crime lady who boasted Mandalorian mercenaries, and was a rival of Jabba's.[16]
