Crimpler was an undefeated Lorellian kickboxer who was drafted into the Hapan Royal Navy during the Yuuzhan Vong War. He saw defeat at the Battle of Fondor and defected to become a pirate. During an attempt to capture the Hapan Jedi Knight Tenel Ka, he was defeated in unarmed combat and imprisoned by Hapan forces. A Ni'Korish guard allowed him to escape from the prison, killing Trisdin Gheer in the process, though his memory had been erased by Jaina Solo after the scientist Sinsor Khal removed the Yuuzhan Vong implant in his neck.
