Cruisemissile Troopers were elite TIE pilots of the Galactic Empire who flew cruisemissile assault craft.
History[]
The spearhead of the Imperial Navy, cruisemissile troopers typically comprised the first wave of full-scale Imperial assaults on Rebel Alliance military outposts, launching in flight squadrons of twelve from the bombing bays of Imperial Star Destroyers. They were armed with dual laser cannons and twin proton torpedo launchers attached to the two engines of the cruisemissile craft, although they lacked shielding.[1] Unlike TIE pilots, who were autonomous from their craft, cruisemissile troopers were affixed to their cruisemissile assault craft from the waist down.[1]
Behind the scenes[]
The only appearance in Star Wars mythos so far is as an action figure of The Power of the Force 2 Kenner toy line. In Star Wars Insider 113, Keeper of the Holocron Leland Chee stated that the Cruisemissile Troopers are to be considered part of canon.[2]
