Crystal Cave (Molavar)

This crystalline cave on Molavar was the setting of a climactic showdown between ex-mercenary Darca Nyl and the Force-sensitive criminal Lycan, which ended in the cavern's destruction and Lycan's death. Darca Nyl narrowly escaped the collapsing cave, and went on to dedicate his life to helping the helpless.
Characteristics
Edit
The cavern was located underground, accessible only via a tunnel set into a mountainside several days' travel from Malcraan. It was dozens of meters wide and stretched over twenty meters high. In the center of the cavern was a shallow pool of water about ten meters long and half as wide. The most interesting features of the cavern were massive, luminescent blue crystal formations (ranging in size from smaller than a Human thumb to taller than a moisture vaporator) and a statue of a robed, bearded man holding a datapad at his side and wielding a stylized melee weapon that strongly resembled a lightsaber. The statue was raised up on a pedestal that had been engraved with a symbol resembling that of the Old Republic Chancellery, and the whole structure had been set into a tiled floor that had broken free of its foundation at some point in the past and had begun listing to one side by the time of the cavern's destruction, in which the statue and the crystal formations were also destroyed.
Behind the scenes
Edit
The appearance of the statue bears a striking resemblance to the architecture of ancient Jedi monuments, suggesting that the cavern had once been occupied by members of the Jedi Order and had served a similar function to the Crystal cave on Dantooine that were visited by both Revan and the Jedi Exile during the years following the Great Sith War. Such a structure on an out-of-the-way Rim world would have been an archaeological treasure trove for Jedi scholars and archivists, but it is unknown whether or not the Jedi order knew of the cavern on Molavar prior to its collapse. If they did not, then all knowledge of the locale was lost with its destruction.
The Jedi statue bears a striking resemblance to the bearded Jedi Knight who had given his lightsaber to Darca Nyl after the vessel he'd been piloting crashed near Nyl's farm.
In one illustration (depicting the detonation of the mines that would shortly destroy the cavern), the statue's base bears a symbol that appears to be the symbol for the Rise of the Empire era, although partial obstruction by a falling crystal makes it impossible to determine if it truly is the symbol. Notably, in a panel on the preceding page, that same pedestal face is clearly depicted as being without the marking—a continuity blooper in any event.
