"This is a meeting where every voice counts, does it not? Then let me ask you two. How do you vote? Are we an Empire of curs and cuckoo hens? Clucking and whimpering in the dark?"
―Valco Pandion, to the Imperials at the Akiva summit[1]

Cuckoo hens were a type of chicken that made clucking sounds. By the time of the Imperial Era, being compared to one of the hens could be considered a symbol of cowardice. While attending an emergency summit on the Outer Rim planet Akiva[1] in 4 ABY,[2] Grand Moff Valco Pandion berated his fellow Imperials for their lack of courage to attack the nascent New Republic, questioning if they were part of an Empire consisting of cuckoo hens.[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Cuckhoo hens were mentioned in Aftermath, a 2015 novel written by Chuck Wendig as the first installment in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1] In the real world, cuckoos are a type of European bird.[3]
