The Cularin system was surrounded by a dense comet cloud, remnants from the system's formation. Most of the comets followed erratic courses around the system, some of which had dense cores similar to the system's heavier planets.^[1]

They interacted with each other resulting in occasional collisions, showering frozen debris resulting in the creation of smaller comets.

The comet cloud was sometimes known to cause interruptions in hyperspace travel. This was an annoyance to some of the system's inhabitants, though also contributed to the system's defenses.^[1]

Brin Hesk'l's ship was once found floating abandoned in the comet cloud.^[2]
