The DC-19 "Stealth" carbine was a blaster carbine in BlasTech Industries DC-15 blaster line. The DC-19 was equipped with a sound suppressor for silent operations, and had an optional function which used a refined tibanna gas mixture that made the DC-19's laser bolts virtually invisible to the naked eye. However, the tibanna mixture was highly expensive, had to be reloaded after ten shots, and had to be cooled down after each shot to prevent damage to the rifle's dampeners. The DC-19 was used exclusively by clone shadow troopers in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. It was extremely powerful.

[edit] Characteristics

Part of BlasTech Industries DC-15 blaster line, the DC-19 "Stealth" carbine was a medium sized blaster carbine. It weighed approximately five kilograms, and was worth 3,500 credits. Although the DC-19 had no stun setting, it did have a number of unique features, including a sound suppressor unit that allowed the user to operate in virtual silence. The DC-19 also had an alternate firing mode that used a special mixture of tibanna gas, making the bolt invisible to the naked eye.

This effectively made DC-19 fire impossible to detect without the aid of scanning equipment, a great boon to snipers. However, this invisible tibanna mix had to be reloaded after every ten shots, and there was a required cooldown time between each individual shot to recharge the dampeners. Similar technology like this was later used in the Nightstinger sporting blaster rifle, used by Imperial commandos during the Galactic Civil War.

[edit] History

The DC-19 was used extensively by clone shadow troopers in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars between the Republic and the Separatists. Unlike the regular clone troopers, who used the standard DC-15S blasters, the shadow troopers needed the "Stealth" carbine for their convert operations deep inside enemy territory. Shadow trooper snipers used the alternate tibanna gas firing mode to great effect.

In 19 BBY, after the end of the Clone Wars and the Republic's reformation into the Galactic Empire, Imperial Inquisitor Valin Draco took a group of shadow troopers equipped with DC-19 carbines on an expedition to the destroyed Almas Academy, looking for Darth Rivan's holocron.
