[edit] Details

Disruptor weapons, a generally illegal subset of blaster weaponry, could disintegrate matter at the molecular level and rip apart living material with ease and speed.

The DXR-6 could be fitted with a zoom scope, making it an effective sniper rifle at great distances.

[edit] History

Despite their illegality, the Jedi Praxeum was known to allow Jedi Knights and Apprentices to carry this weapon on field missions during the New Republic era.

Because of the nature of this weapon, even a glancing blow will produce grievous injuries. But because the capacity of this weapon is only ten shots, the shooter often chose his or her target carefully. This weapon usually results in a one hit kill and often times, the only sign that there was a target is a smoking pile of ash where the enemy used to be.

Most disruptors required a lengthy recycling time to cool internal components. At the Stars' End prison facility, Han Solo was cornered by the assassin Uul-Rha-Shan, who was armed with a disruptor. Solo exploited the disruptor's primary weakness, gunning down the Tiss'shar killer while his weapon recycled.
