Daegen Lok was a HumanmaleJe'daii Master who had been banished to Bogan, one of the two moons of Tython, at the height of the Infinite Empire's reign. Known to some as the Prisoner of Bogan, Lok remained on Bogan for an extended period of time because of his continued fascination with what would eventually become known as the dark side of the Force.
Trained by the Je'daii Temple MasterQuan-Jang at Anil Kesh, Lok attained the rank of Je'daii Ranger around the time of the Despot War, and later was elevated to the rank of Je'daii Master for his deeds during the war, including the assassination of the Despot QueenHadiya. Obsessed by its mysteries, Lok and his best friend, Hawk Ryo, entered into the Chasm in 25,800 BBY. Though Hawk reminded him that they had to go at this slowly, Daegen recklessly dove deeper. Before he knew it, he and Hawk shared a vision, depicting a being with a single red eye, commanding an army, wielding a sword of fire. Daegen was then dragged out of the chasm by a worried Hawk.
In 25,793 BBY, Daegen had a vision and told the Masters' Council about it, but they told him he was mad. They banished him and Hawk to the moon of Bogan. Hawk eventually left after convincing himself that the Council was right, Daegen was forced to stay until he renounced his vision, which he perceived to be little more than a lie they wanted to hear.
While indicating the cause of this event and learning a new power, Lok served out his exile in silent meditation, keeping the darkness close to his heart and remaining out of balance.[1] Sometime during his exile, Lok managed to figure out how to remove his cuffs separating all Bogan prisoners with the Force without setting off the sensors. When the Force HoundXesh, a servant of the Infinite Empire and the person in Lok's vision, approached Tython aboard a Rakatan ship, Lok was one of the Je'daii that experienced a vision of him.[3]
Later, when the Force Hound was also exiled on Bogan, Lok found him, attacking him with a mind twist and catch him off guard. Xesh managed to get the upper hand and had Lok at his mercy, with Force lightning charged up. Lok asked if he intended to kill him before revealing he had a vision of him. He then removed Xesh's cuffs and rearranged his dwelling so it would appear that he was asleep to the patrol droid. He aided Xesh in escaping Bogan to construct a forcesaber to prove the validity of his vision, having Xesh recharge a crashed ship that was buried during the war.[4]
Upon arriving over Krev Coeur, the ship's controls started to malfunction, forcing the two to equip themselves with parachute backpacks and left the ship before it was destroyed by the impact on the planet's surface.[5]
