"With unrest a constant problem on peripheral Imperial holdings such as Sappire and Dakshee, experts do not expect the Emperor to remain neutral."
―A news report by Imperial HoloVision[3]

Dakshee was a planet located in the Barma sector of the Colonies. It was the capital of its sector. Dakshee was marked by constant unrest under the rule of the Galactic Empire.

Astrography[]

"Weizel is former Governor of Dakshee in the Colonies, where he came to the attention of the Imperial Court due to his handing of the Brella Temior crisis."
―A news report by Coruscant Daily Newsfeed[4]

The planet Dakshee was located in the Barma sector of the Colonies,[1] within the Slice region of the galaxy.[2] It was situated near Carida and its sector bordered the Haldeen and Kliap sectors.[5]

The Barma sector also contained the AX system,[1] which comprised the asteroid AX-456,[5] and the Brella Temior system.[1]

History[]

"Weizel has a certain flair for handing problem worlds."
Amier Candle, on the governor of Dakshee, as reported by Coruscant Daily Newsfeed[4]

By the time of the Imperial Period, Dakshee had been the capital of the Barma sector for several centuries.[5] The planet remained a long time under the rule of the Galactic Empire.[6] However, Dakshee was marked by constant unrest,[3] to the point that it was considered a problem world for the Empire.[4]

At some point, Gerald Weizel became the governor of Dakshee, where he discovered that several union heads on the planet were ringleaders of the terrorist group Justice Action Network. Weizel resolved the affair without bloodshed.[4] During his tenure as the governor of Dakshee, Weizel also handled the Brella Temior crisis, which brought the ambitious[7] governor to the attention of the Imperial Court.[4] Governor Weizel's involvement in the Dakshee affair and the Brella Temior crisis gave him a reputation of having a certain flair for handing problem worlds. This reputation eventually led him to be appointed as the new governor of Chandrila in 1 ABY.[4]

During the early years of the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance transmitted propaganda broadcasts to the restless population of Dakshee from a secret base in the nearby AX system. Rebel operatives from Dakshee eventually built a permanent relay station on the asteroid AX-456.[5] The relay station was barely operational when,[5] in 1 BBY,[8] the Empire assaulted the installation.[9]

At the start of the Dentaal Uprising, in 0 ABY, the HoloNet news network Imperial HoloVision reported that political experts were expecting Emperor Palpatine to take action against Imperial-held worlds with a constant unrest problem, such as Dakshee and Sappire.[3]

Eventually, at some point between 0 ABY[3] and 4 ABY, Dakshee became the site of an uprising.[10] The Empire responded to the uprising by bringing terror to the world. During the subjugation of Dakshee, the Empire bombarded the planet first, and then went on to conduct mass executions among the civilian population. The classical actress Dana Meimonda was present on Dakshee when the Empire subjugated her homeworld.[10] Meimonda and her husband were among the very few to escape the massacre,[10] and both fled to Esseles,[11] the capital of the Darpa sector within the Core Worlds.[12]
