Biography
Edit
Dama's Master Cei Vookto was killed during the Battle of Lianna, leaving Montalvo an orphaned Padawan. On Lianna, Yoda presided over Vookto's funeral, at which Montalvo grieved. He then became the Padawan to Ki-Adi-Mundi for a brief time.
Dama died shortly after the execution of Order 66 when he was captured by the Galactic Empire and submitted to torture. In a personal torture session, Darth Vader tried to extract the location of Obi-Wan Kenobi from the Jedi. Dama refused and was subsequently killed by Vader, who snapped his neck, an action "less than well done" according to Darth Sidious, who had further interrogations planned.
Behind the scenes
Edit
Comic writer John Ostrander based his name after the screenname of a poster on the Dark Horse Comics forums.[source?] Ostrander speculated that Montalvo was born in 37 BBY.[1]
The name "Dama Montalvo" actually means "Lady Montalvo" in Spanish, "Montalvo" being a fairly common last name in Spain and several Latin American countries.
