The planet Danton VI was a transitional planet under the control of the Galactic Empire, and a leading weapons manufacturer for the Imperial cause. Weapons were shipped off of the planet on a daily basis from its numerous manufacturing plants. As per any weapons manufacturing planet, it was guarded with a large compliment of stormtroopers to watch over and guard the assembly facilities.

Despite the large Imperial presence on the planet, there was also a Rebel base. Originally it was simply a smuggler's base, stealing weapons from the Imperials and selling them on the black market, but it was later converted for use by the Rebel Alliance. As well as the smuggling base, the rebels also had the support of some of the locals who didn't like Imperial rule, and would help out the Rebels in any way they could.

Orbiting the planet was the Lunar Station, a political outpost for Imperial high-ups.
