The Dark Acolytes were a group of loosely organized Dark Jedi assembled and trained by Count Dooku to lead the armies of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and to provide a force-sensitive opposition to the Jedi Order. Some of them were originally Jedi seduced to the Dark Side of the Force by Dooku himself.
As the Dark Acolytes were not trained in the secrets of the Sith, neither Dooku nor his master, Darth Sidious, considered them a violation of Darth Bane's Rule of Two.
